Word Vancouver 2026: Indigenous Authors, Illustrators & Canadian Creators

Kinder Books is delighted to partner with Word Vancouver 2026 once again as an official festival bookseller! We’re proud to celebrate Indigenous and Canadian authors and illustrators through this special collection of books for children and families.

Explore books by acclaimed Indigenous creators Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley and Kung Jaadee, whose stories and artwork celebrate Indigenous culture, community, nature, identity, language, and connection. Their books offer young readers meaningful opportunities to learn, reflect, imagine, and connect with Indigenous voices and perspectives.

Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley will join us at Kinder Books in New Westminster for a special storytelling and art workshop on September 26, 2026. Kung Jaadee will be visiting local schools as part of Word Vancouver’s 2026 festival programming.

This collection also includes books by three additional Canadian authors and illustrators who will be presenting at schools in Surrey as part of the festival.

Whether you’re looking for Indigenous children’s books, Canadian authors and illustrators, stories about culture and identity, or meaningful books to share with young readers, this collection is a wonderful place to explore.

Shop the Word Vancouver 2026 collection at Kinder Books and discover stories that celebrate Indigenous and Canadian voices, inspire young readers, and open the door to meaningful conversations.
