Join us for a special Storytime & Craft event at Kinder Books on Saturday, August 9 at 11:00 AM, featuring local author Sherry McMillan reading from her beloved picture book, What the Seal Saw.

Set along the stunning coastline of British Columbia, What the Seal Saw is a lyrical, rhyming tale that invites young readers to explore the natural world through the curious eyes of a seal. Inspired by McMillan’s real-life kayaking encounters in Semiahmoo Bay, the book encourages children to lead with curiosity, nurture empathy for the environment, and discover the joy of language. The illustrations, created by artist Carla Maskall, are designed to be inclusive and calming, making this story a gentle and engaging experience for all ages .

After the reading, children are invited to participate in a hands-on craft activity inspired by the book’s themes and characters. This event is perfect for families with children in preschool through early elementary school.
